Hobson's choice, sacrifice & solidarity

It's been pretty amusing to watch the developments since the disqualification of Ms Bachhan from Rajya Sabha ...

Sonia's resignation from Lok Sabha and NAC, then Karan Singh, Anil Ambani etc...

But the terrible and ridiculous thing is the way some of the legislators are putting their papers to express solidarity. In Madhya Pradesh 25 MLAs and an LS MP have resigned. Resigning because of conflict of interest is one thing but these solidarity resignations do not auger well for the democracy.

They don't seem to care about the consequence of the actions, but it does on the taxpayers on the country and the burden is on them for conducting the re-elections. I think it's too much to expect the politicians care about the people who elected them, they only think about and loyal to who gives them the ticket to contest the elections.

A good option for the congress party to satisfy their solidarity craving would be to pass a whip to all congress MPs and MLAs to give up their posts, so the president and respective Governors can invite other parties to form the Govt till the next elections. (The math will be right, there won't be any issues in finding majority parties after these guyz give up their seats)

I hope wisdom prevails with the election commission not to conduct re-elections in those constituencies right away and conduct the elections when they're due next-time. Till then the constituencies must be governed directly by the Governor in the case of state and President in case of LS.
