AIIMS director Venugopal sacked

In a "not unanimous" decision and without voting, the AIIMS has fired Dr Venugopal. This is like the emergency days, beware you will be fired if you show dissent or oppose the Govt. This is totally unbecoming of democracy.

In a related incident, Dr Rajasekaran who is a close relative of the Health Minister has been appointed as Chairman of selection committee. There was a petition filed in the court for a clear demarcation of powers between the health minister and the director of AIIMS. This petition was dismissed by the Delhi court.

From Indian Express
" Seven representatives from the institute signed the petition, filed by head of the neurosurgery department Dr Kale. It challenges the inclusion of the minister as well as Health Secretary P K Hota in the governing body. It says any such appointment is contrary to the autonomous character of AIIMS as envisaged under Section 4(E) of the institute.

The petition also challenges the selection of Dr Rajashekharan (a close relative of the Health Minister) as chairman of the selection committee. It seeks a direction to the Centre for constituting a high-level committee of eminent persons to manage the affairs of AIIMS to protect its ‘autonomous character’. "

Going by the mentality of vengeance and hatred towards the opposing voices, probably these representatives including Dr Kale may also be fired in the days to come.

This is sick, this is gross, manipulative, vindicative, destructive and what not. With all these we have a spineless Prime minister with no leadership qualities. Does he ever bother about the conflict of interests of his cabinet members ?

The docs are on strike again, and may probably lose their salaries as well.
Cry my beloved Indians for electing such a Government !!!!
